John BeasleyJohn Beasley gained invaluable bandstand experience on the road with jazz icons Miles Davis and Freddie Hubbard.

As a solo artist and bandleader, Beasley brings his rhythm section Jeff "Tain" Watts and James Genus from his 2010 Grammy-nominated Positootly! album (Best Jazz Instrumental Album) to the Jazz Standard to showcase the original, propulsive, multi-layered compositions from funk and soul to bop.

Beasley's music career spans nearly three decades with a credit list that reads like a virtual Who's Who of music: as Music Director for Steely Dan, Queen Latifah and A.R. Rahman and pianist with Dianne Reeves, Christian McBride, Chaka Khan, John Patitituci, Thad Jones, even James Brown.

Los Angeles Times described his talent as reflecting a variety of generational influences, incorporating the emphatic chordal clusters of Herbie Hancock, the rhythmic quirkiness of Monk and the lush intelligence of Art Tatum into a highly refined personal voice. Jazz Times praises Positootly! as "a good example of what happens when master instrumentalists get together one of the first Jazz classic albums of the 21st century."

John is truly an amazing pianist, imaginative composer, creative improviser and arranger.
