First 2012 Kickstarter Project: Tarun Balani Collective- Debut Album 'Sacred World'

Drummer Tarum BalaniIt's been a couple of months since I've featured a kickstarter project here on EoJ.

Kickstarter???

What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative ideas and ambitious endeavors.

We believe that:

• A good idea, communicated well, can spread fast and wide.
• A large group of people can be a tremendous source of money and encouragement.

Kickstarter is powered by a unique all-or-nothing funding method where projects must be fully-funded or no money changes hands.

That being said, I believe that this is a great project to start with in 2012!

Ambitious drummer, percussionist and composer Tarun Balani is the leader of the eponymously named collective.

The music for their debut album Sacred World has already been recorded. The next step is to have the album mixed and mastered. That's where you come in!

Check out the video below (There seems to be some issues with it showing up in IE; it plays great in Chrome and FF):

Here's a little introduction about who Tarun Balani is and what he's all about:

Hi! I am Tarun Balani, a musician from India. I recorded my debut album last summer in Mumbai, in the middle of a crazy Indian monsoon. The album is titled ‘Sacred World’ and is a record dedicated to my grand father who was an artist himself.

Recording my first album is an experience I will never forget - I got to record my compositions under the ‘Tarun Balani Collective’ - with some of the best young jazz and Hindustani musicians from India and abroad. The album features Sharik HasanAditya BalaniSuhail Yusuf Khan and Bruno Raberg. This is my first body of work as a professional artist, and I can't wait to share it with the world.

I spent a large part of my savings on recording the album in Mumbai. I need a further $5000 for the mixing and mastering of the album, and need your help for this. If you’re able to contribute, there are a whole lot of ways in which you will be rewarded. Check out the right side of the screen to know what you’ll get.

My aim is to release the record by August 2012. Do check out my trailer and please help spread the word by sharing this link on your facebook/ twitter page.

Thank you for your support! It wouldn’t be possible to do this without you!

Tarun

P.S: Here’s a bit about me and what I do-

I am a drummer, percussionist and composer, and draw from a word of influences to find my own unique form of expression in the modern jazz idiom.

I studied at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where I developed my voice as a world jazz drummer. I also played for the Berklee Global Jazz Ensemble, and had an opportunity to share the stage with artists like Danilo Perez, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano and George Garzone. I’ve also played with Indian bands like Advaita, Faridkot and Artists Unlimited.

I am the co-founder and the creative director of the Global Music Institute in India, which brings a distinctive and modern approach to music education in India.
