Our Story

With a long and distinct jazz history, Philadelphia is the home to a vibrant musician population who continue to build upon this musical legacy. Comprised of 16 outstanding Philadelphia-based musicians and led by renowned trumpet player and Artistic Director, Terell Stafford, the Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia aims to preserve, represent, and continue Philadelphia’s unique, rich jazz sound and tradition by presenting the highest quality jazz to the greatest number of people.

Our Call

As we work to establish a much needed and major asset to the city’s cultural fabric, we look to you, our peers, for your support in building the Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia. We are planning a number of informal concerts throughout the city, leading up to our early 2014 gala fundraiser and premier performance at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.

With a scheduled launch and debut performance at City Hall on  National Jazz Day (April 30, 2013), you can be there for us from the beginning.

All campaign proceeds will go towards performance costs including promotion, labor fees, and paying the musicians

Every donation helps us to establish a new Philadelphia treasure.

The Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia is a fiscally sponsored project under CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia, a 501(c)(3) corporation. Contributions for the purposes of the Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia must be made payable to CultureWorks Greater Philadelphia, with Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia in the memo and are tax-deductible to the extent of the law.

Your Help

You are helping us build a new cultural treasure that presents the history of Philadelphia Jazz and embodies the vibrant scene through creative and energetic performances.

Your confidence in the Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia and what it can do for Philadelphia and its residents is important to us, and we hope you will help us to spread the word and share this campaign with others.
