The Brand New Heavies ~ First New CD in 7 Years To Be Released May 21, 2013!

PRESS RELEASE

When The Brand New Heavies burst onto the scene in the late 80s via London’s rare groove circuit, it was clear they were trailblazers. Their spirited mash-up of R&B, jazz, funk and soul spawned a new movement in music called Acid Jazz and it was not long before they became a musical institution.

Two years shy of their Silver Anniversary and seven years since their last release, the multi-platinum selling super-group are back with Forward, their debut on Shanachie Entertainment. The Heavies re-emerge triumphant and in top form with original collaborator N’Dea Davenport and new British vocalist, Dawn Joseph, picking up the baton on several tracks. Founding member, drummer and keyboardist, Jan Kincaid, also graces us with his vocals as well as stirring up The Brand New Heavies potent instrumental elixir with fellow founding members, guitarist Simon Bartholomew and bassist Andrew Levy.

Chick Corea Band's Great JB Performance + Tour Schedule!

❁Good morning❁

A couple of people asked about Chick Corea's tour schedule after they heard about the July 10th, 2010 show at the Ghent Jazz Festival (in Belgium):

Twenty-five (25) free-flowing minutes of James Brown's music by the Chick Corea Freedom Band (Corea, Kenny Garrett, Christian McBride and Roy Haynes)!

Corea played drums for a bit, McBride sang "Sex Machine"; it was wild! Vijay Iyer was also there! Roy Haynes's grandson Marcus Gilmore was there. Hiromi! Pianist Ruslan Sirota and drummer Ronald Bruner, Jr. from the Stanley Clarke Band, too! Stanley Clarke! Very cool!

Someone in the audience videotaped it and the performance is presented here in three (3) parts.  Enjoy!
