2013 Thelonious Monk Int'l Jazz Saxophone Competition and All-Star Gala Concert to Take Place September 15-16 in Washington, DC!

Washington, D.C. -- The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz today announced the 2013 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition and All-Star Gala Concert will take place at the Kennedy Center Eisenhower Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, September 16. The 2013 Competition and Gala is made possible through generous support from Cadillac, the presenting sponsor for the weekend.

This year's Competition will feature 14 of the world's most outstanding young jazz saxophonists who have been selected to perform before a panel of jazz greats including Jane Ira Bloom, Jimmy Heath, Branford Marsalis, Wayne Shorter, and Bobby Watson.

FYI - 2011 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition & Gala Concert Tickets on Sale Now!

On Monday, September 12, jazz lovers and supporters will gather to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.!

Event hosts Herbie Hancock, Phylicia Rashad, and Billy Dee Williams will honor Aretha Franklin with the Institute's 2011 Maria Fisher Founder's Award.
