NYC Harpist Brandee Younger brings her swingin’ jazz harp quartet to DC for a rare appearance. Younger will play at Bohemian Caverns with young heavyweights EJ Strickland on drums, Dezron Douglas on bass and Stacy Dillard on saxophones – each of whom are bandleaders in their own right.

Heavily influenced by Dorothy Ashby and Alice Coltrane, Younger has developed a beautiful, fresh sound all her own. Equally at home with classical music and jazz, Brandee Younger emerged from the same Long Island music milieu as her elder contemporaries Busta Rhymes, De La Soul, Public Enemy, EPMD, and Rakim, and has incorporated hip-hop and other diverse genres into her musical vocabulary.

Prolific Trumpeter | Label Owner Dave Douglas Takes Over NYC'S Jazz Standard, December 8-11!

4 EVENINGS OF NEW MUSIC WITH 4 DIFFERENT BANDS;

FEATURING GREENLEAF PORTABLE SERIES ARTISTS

From December 8-11 at Jazz Standard in New York City, prolific jazz trumpeter and label owner Dave Douglas will present four evenings of new music with four different bands, including artists from his Greenleaf Portable Series (GPS). On December 8, Douglas will feature a new group, Key Motion Quintet, with Donny McCaslin, Adam Benjamin, Tim Lefebvre, and Mark Guiliana, performing music from Douglas'Keystone and McCaslin's Perpetual Motion. On the following nights, Douglas will debut three groups featured on the first three volumes of his GPS 2011digital EPs, offered in the new limited edition box set, Three Views: So Percussion (December 9), Orange Afternoons with Ravi Coltrane, Vijay Iyer, Linda Oh and EJ Strickland (December 10), and Brass Ecstasy with Luis Bonilla, Vincent Chancey, Marcus Rojas and Rudy Royston (December 11).
