Wayne Escoffery’s The Only Son of One is his first CD of all original music and is inspired by his childhood in London, England focusing on pivotal events of his life as a toddler and his teen years. Living in an abusive family environment and leaving with his mother to find a better life in the United States was a profound experience, and this music chronicles the emotional, psychological and spiritual journey of a young boy.

Inaugural Edition of the Exit 0 Int'l Jazz Festival kicks off November 9-11, 2012 in Cape May, NJ!

Hopefully, Hurricane Sandy's damage will be minimal and Cape May, NJ will be back to normal by November 9, 2012! 

PRESS RELEASE

More than 100 internationally known musicians will perform more than 50 shows over the course of the Festival, with performances taking place in intimate club venues and on the Main Stage of the Cape May Convention Hall during this three-day event.
 
Headlining the Festival on the Main Stage at Convention Hall will be The Sun Goddess Tour starring Jazz legend and three-time GRAMMY Award Winner Ramsey Lewis and his Electric Band on Saturday at 7:30 PM and 9:30PM.  Opening the Festival on Friday at 8:00 PM and 10:15PM will be Philadelphia native son and GRAMMY Award winning jazz bassist, Christian McBride and his quintet - Inside Straight.  And a very special and rare jazz session will take place on Saturday afternoon at noon when Chilean vocalist Claudia Acuna performs with her quartet followed by the 17-man strong Captain Black Big Band, led by jazz pianist Orrin Evans and featuring Nicholas Payton.

New Kickstarter Project! JD Walter's 7th CD produced/co-produced by Orrin Evans and Eric Revis!

Happy Summer to everyone! Wow - I haven't featured a Kickstarter Project since the begining of 2012. That's not acceptable. Here's a little background information on this latest project that has caught my attention...

Vocalist JD Walter's artistry was a delightful discovery for me in 2007. Orrin Evans, the producer of this new project, is on my short list of favorite pianists and composers. They are both members of one of the more underappreciated jazz groups around, Philly-based LuvPark. Check out their eclectic 2005 CD LuvPark on Imani Records.

An album featuring JD Walter, Eric Revis, Orrin Evans and Nasheet Waits?  I cannot wait to hear the CD! With our monetary support, I know that this fundraiser will be successful - check out the video below for more information:
